چکیده

Anatomy of the cardiac conduction system was studied in 15 rabbits with serial histologic sectioning of 4. The rabbit's sinus node is a simple and distinct structure located at the junction of the crista terminalis with the sinus intercavarum nearly midway between the two cavae; it contains an unusually large percentage of P cells but is not organized about a large central artery. The AV node and His bundle are relatively small and are displaced anteriorly by the large coronary sinus normally present in the rabbit because of its persisting left superior vena cava. The AV node is organized with input system and bypass tracts similar to those of man and the dog. Doth the AV node and His bundle contain many conspicuously large nerve trunks. The blood supply of the sinus node is from terminal small branches of both the right and left coronary arteries and that to the AV node and His bundle is from similar terminal branches of the septal artery only. The possible functional significance of some of these anatomic features is discussed. ADDITIONAL

Three-dimensional anatomy of the conduction system of the early embryonic rabbit heart.

The complete embryonic cardiac conduction system is difficult to view in three dimensions, primarily because there has not been a marker of all segments of the normal system throughout all stages of development. Imaging of the conduction system components within the atria has been particularly controversial because different markers reveal different pathways that may or may not represent conduc...

Modulation of extracellular atrioventricular node field potential pattern and ventricular rhythm by morphine in experimental atrial fibrillation in isolated rabbit heart

Introduction: Endorphins are produced by cardiomyocytes, and exert different effects on the heart. The aim of the present study is to assess morphine effects on extracellular atrioventricular (AV) node field potential pattern and ventricular rhythm of isolated rabbit heart during experimental atrial fibrillation (AF). Methods: Effects of different concentrations of morphine (10, 20, 50 and 1...

Electrophysiology and anatomy of embryonic rabbit hearts before and after septation.

Mechanisms of cardiac pacemaking and conduction system (CPCS) development are difficult to study, in part because of the absence of models that are physiologically similar to humans in which we can label the entire CPCS. Investigations of the adult rabbit heart have provided insight into normal and abnormal cardiac conduction. The adult and the embryonic rabbit have an endogenous marker of the ...

The Effect of Amiodarone on the Ultrastructure of Ganglionic Neurons of Rabbit Heart

Purpose: This research has been carried out to study the morphological and ultrastructural changes of rabbit heart ganglionic neurons and nerve fibers after treatment with Amiodarone. Materials and Methods: 21 rabbits were divided into control and two experimental groups. The first experimental group for one week and the second experimental group for two weeks were injected intraperitoneally 8...

The distribution of the cardiac veins in the New Zealand White rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus)

In this investigation, 25 adult New Zealand White rabbits randomly selected from both sexes and studied.Coloured latex injection and corrosion cast methods were applied on the materials. This study was carried out to disclose the distribution of the cardiac veins of the New Zealand White rabbits. The veins that drain the heart were found to be the great cardiac vein, the middle cardiac vein, th...
